To one and all contemplating the puzzling plumage of immature Reddish 
Egrets:  this is an absolutely typical first-year dark-morph bird, normal in every 
respect.  Nothing intermediate about it.  Note the generally dark soft parts 
(legs, bill, lores); lack of plumes on head, neck or back; lack of darker gray 
contour feathers on back or folded wing (the presence of which would suggest 
Yearling); and the overall drab, grayish-khaki color throughout.
