Protecting records, your management team and your career seem to all
be tied into one bundle in our World At Risk! Is protecting your job,
keeping your CEO out of jail and Homeland Security starting to blur
together? What would have seemed overkill just few years ago, may not
be enough in today's world. The target of "Prudent Man Performance"
needs to be continually evaluated to avoid loss, fines and criminal
Records management and vital records protection finally has the
spotlight, are you prepared for your starring role? Records managers
and IT managers wer!
e instrumental in the dramatic recovery from
terrorist actions in the recent past. But we must also continually
model against potential threats; and develop strategic
countermeasures that will inspire confidence in management,
shareholders and regulators.
About the Speaker: Hugh Smith is Vice President of Marketing for
FIRELOCK, the world's largest manufacturer of Modular Fireproof Media
Storage Vaults. Hugh has designed and installed more vital records
vaults for corporate America than anyone in the industry. His work
experience includes some of the most secure and unique vaults in the
world. Literally hundreds of billions of assets reside in FIRELOCK
secured facilities and vaults. He has worked with clients such as
Walt Disney Imagineering, the U.S. Department of Energy, AT&T, and
most of the multi-national banks in this country. It is almost
impossible to complete a Wall Street transaction without having!
documentation move into a FIRELOCK Vault. If you take a presc
drug, the batch records most likely are protected inside a vault that
our speaker has been instrumental in designing.
Hugh is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in
Business Administration and Marketing Research and has worked in the
area of developing new security technology for over 25 years. Hugh
has been active on various ARMA publications for vital records and
records center design and also participates in the National Fire
Protection Standards Committee which reviews and publishes new
standards on records centers and vaulting.
Hugh has also helped develop a national network of independent
records storage companies whose goal is to protect vital records and
media rather than just store old records. This raises the bar so that
records protection is now better able to meet the threats of those
who seek to destabilize our economy. Many members of this network
were instrumental in helping rec!
ords managers, IT managers and their
organizations continue to operate after September 11.
