The Whooping Cranes that are following the ultralights have arrived in
Gilchrist County. Weather permitting, they are expected to fly over the
Crystal River Mall tomorrow (Monday) morning. I called the phone number
mentioned below, and heard that the birds are currently about 60 miles from
the mall. It is expected that their flight will take about 1.5 hours.
Anyone who wants to see the birds should be at the grassy open area just
north of the mall at 8:30. The mall is on US-19, on the north side of
Crystal River in Citrus County. The phone message also said that you could
call that phone number tomorrow morning for updated information on the
expected arrival.

Here is the message that appears on the web site

"Gilchrist County, Florida - The pilots with their 16 whooping cranes left
Hamilton County and flew 60.6 miles to Gilchrist County, Florida today.
Once aloft they encountered a headwind so the flight took 2 hours and 3

"There are only 77.8 miles left on the journey to Chassahowitzka National
Wildlife Refuge. If they're able to complete the migration tomorrow, the
public is invited to view them as they fly over Chrystal River Mall. You
may call 904-232-2580 ext. 124 later today to find out if they are likely
to fly tomorrow. To see the flyover, go to the grassy area on the north
side of the Mall."

"The total distance traveled so far is 1113.2 miles."
