CALL FOR PAPERS/WORKSHOPS

CAAHE/IPD STUDENT SERVICES CONFERENCE
APRIL 15-16, 2004

The Institute for Professional Development (IPD) and the Consortium for the
Advancement of Adult Higher Education (CAAHE) Student Services Conference
Planning Committee are pleased to announce that the eighth annual Student
Services Conference will be hosted by Belhaven College and held in Memphis,
Tennessee on April 15-16, 2004 at the Radisson Hotel Memphis Downtown.

The theme of our conference this year is on using technology to enhance
student services and academic records for the adult student.  We are
soliciting workshop proposals related to this theme.  A proposal form is
attached and a deadline of January 30, 2004, has been set for proposal
submissions.   Proposal selections will be made and applicants notified by
February 15.

Who is the audience?

Student services professionals-directors of student services, registrars,
coordinators and academic advisors--who work with adult students in
accelerated degree programs for the 23 CAAHE-affiliated colleges and
universities.

Suggested Topics

A list of suggested topics follows.  Presenters may choose to submit a
proposal related to one of these topics or another topic that addresses
student services/academic records for accelerated adult programs and
technology.

Who are the sponsors?

The Institute for Professional Development <http://www.ipd.org>  (IPD),
founded in 1973, is a higher education development and management
corporation established to conduct research and development activities with
respect to adult education needs and trends. The primary mission of IPD is
to assist accredited private colleges and universities in expanding and
diversifying their academic offerings and student population base through
the development of quality academic degree programs designed to meet the
educational needs of working adults.
The Consortium for the Advancement of Adult Higher Education
<http://www.caahe.org/main.htm>  (CAAHESM), founded in 1990 under the
leadership of IPD, is an organization of private colleges and universities
committed to meeting the learning needs of adult students through innovative
approaches to higher education.  Twenty-three colleges, universities, and
institutions representing educational programs in 37 states, Canada, and
Puerto Rico belong to the Consortium. Over 145,000 adults are enrolled in
Consortium institutions' degree programs.

Proposal Submission Guidelines

Instructions on how to submit a proposal follow:

        1.      Complete the Proposal Submission Form for each proposal you
submit.

        2.      Attach a separate one-page description of your proposed
topic, the format and style you will use, and how you will facilitate
audience involvement.

        3.      Include information on your audio-visual needs.

        4.      Include a brief (one or two paragraphs) autobiographical
sketch of yourself, which will be used to introduce you.

        5.      Submit the form and attachments to:

Deadline for submission of proposals is January 30, 2004.  Proposals will be
reviewed by the Student Services Conference Planning Committee.  Selections
will be made and applicants notified by February 15, 2004.

        General Guidelines

                *       Multiple submissions are acceptable.

                *       Workshops will be one hour.

                *       Workshops that are co-presented and panel
discussions featuring multiple institutions are encouraged.

        *       The names, titles, affiliations, addresses, telephone
numbers and e-mail addresses of all presenters must             be included.
