Presenter -     Karl Zoeckler,CRM
Mr. Karl Zoeckler is the Global Lead, Information & Records Management
Standards & Practices, Pfizer Global R & D in New London, Connecticut.  He
has 20 years of Pharmaceutical R&D records management experience, originally
starting with Bristol-Myers Squibb in Syracuse, NY, and then transferring to
Wallingford, CT in 1986.

Karl joined Pfizer in August of 1998 and has focused on electronic records
issues to include: electronic laboratory notebooks, electronic signatures,
information security, and 21CFR11 compliance. His work experience includes
policy & procedure writing and implementation, database conversions,
micrographics/imaging, lab note keeping, document management, records
retention, litigation support, and scientific indexing.

Mr. Zoeckler holds a B.A. in Biology from Buffalo State University and a
Certificate of Management from Central Connecticut State University. He is a
Certified Records Manager (CRM) and is a past President of the
Hartford/Springfield Chapter of ARMA (Association of Records Managers and
Administrators).  He is an active team leader in CENSA (Collaborative
Electronic Notebook Systems Association).

Karl currently is a member of the Pfizer Corporate Information Security
Council, and the Electronic Records Electronic Signatures Committee.  He is
the Global Line Information Security Officer for Worldwide Regulatory
Affairs & Quality Assurance.

Topic:  Critical Issues for Records Management in Mergers and Acquisitions
In the event of a merger or acquisition, Records Managers may be required to
mobilize to ensure that the company's most valuable information assets are
protected, kept confidential, and continue to be accessible.
Vulnerabilities may increase at the time of Merger/Acquisition to include
potential loss, diversion, and compromised integrity.

In the event of site closures, these issues can be even more critical.
Records Managers can and should get involved early on with planning and
execution of protective measures to ensure against loss.
