The UF Institute for Child Health Policy, UF Department of Epidemiology and
Health Policy, needs a graduate research assistant to help in a variety of
tasks in support of multiple social and community epidemiology projects
conducted by Drs. Komro, Maldonado-Molina and Wagenaar.

This position is part-time, requiring 20 hours per week with a mutually
agreed-upon work schedule.  The expected salary is $25,500 a year.

Primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

(1) Organizing selected data collection efforts.

(2) Building data analysis files.

(3) Conducting statistical analyses (usually using SAS software).

(4) Reviewing scientific literature.

(5) Assisting in grant preparation.

(6) Drafting selected sections of papers and reports.

(7) Other project-related tasks.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a UF doctoral program in applied
statistics, health behavior, psychology, public health, public policy,
sociology or a related area.  Strength in several of the following areas is

(1) Interpersonal and organizational skills.

(2) Analytical and writing skills.

(3) Statistical analysis.

(4) Computer skills and familiarity with database management software.

(5) Familiarity with legal research and public policy.

All applicants should have clear ability to work independently, take
initiative, manage time and work with minimal supervision.  Interest in
public health, alcohol and drug use prevention, adolescents, health
promotion and disease prevention, minority and health disparity issues,
community change or policy evaluation research is desirable.
