A very reasonable request. We political discussion slides into political
attack, then nothing is gained. I think we can disagree without
ugliness. Can't we?

I certainly agree with many of the responses I've read the last few

only concern would be the grossly partisan and even childish name
calling
that can occur under the guise of "political" messages.

Political overtones, sure; political attacks, no. Is this reasonable?

If it was somebody on this listserv then they were definitely out of
line,
have no authority over you, and many of us would disagree with such a
suggestion.

If it was somebody at U of M then we probably can have no effect on that
authority except to express our disgust at its use.
