Bailey Road Soccer Fields, Fernandina Beach: Despite a lack of standing water, three Buff-breasted sandpipers, one, juvenile, Am. Golden plover, one White-rumped Sandpiper and small nos. of Least Sandpipers and Semipalmated plovers are frequenting the soccer fields. Although a city maintenance worker and vehicle were present on the fields and the birds shifted locations they did not abandon the site. However, how the birds respond to late PM soccer activities remains to be determined. Additional rain may hold the birds into the weekend for regional birding interests.

This is only the second AMGP recorded for Nassau County. The prior bird (another juvenile) frequented the terminus of a dead end, beach road, at the southern boundary of Ft. Clinch State Park many decades past.
