Anyone see the movie, The Swenkas, playing at the Film Forum in NYC, and
probably also in a few other enlightened cities.

It's the stroy of competitive male public fashion displays in South
Africa. "The men engage in a ritualistic fashion show known as
`swankking': dressed to the nines, they compete for cash prices and,
sometimes, livestock." NY Times review 9Nov05

Well if you've taken a good Network analysis course with a historical
persepctive, you know where I am going. This sound a lot like J Clyde
Mitchell's "The Kalala Dance" article of the 1950s. But is it?
