Hey Everyone,

I did a couple of hours worth of birding along the boardwalk at Oakland with
Tom Rodriguez today. Most of the birds were quite common, but there were
some goodies:

Double-Crested Cormorant
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Little Blue Heron
Tricolored Heron
Snowy Egret
Turkey Vulture
Bald Eagle
Red-Shouldered Hawk
American Kestrel
Ring-Billed Gull
Belted Kingfisher
Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker (1)
Downy Woodpecker
Northern Flicker
Eastern Phoebe
White-Eyed Vireo
Blue-Headed Vireo (2)
Blue Jay
Fish Crow
Tree Swallow
Tufted Titmouse
Carolina Wren
House Wren
Ruby-Crowned Kinglet (2)
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
American Robin
Gray Catbird
Northern Mockingbird
Orange-Crowned Warbler (3 - found as singles in mixed foraging flocks)
Yellow-Rumped Warbler
Palm Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Painted Bunting (2 - male and female coming to feeder in the brush next to
the hammock between the two boardwalks; they apparently come regularly to
the feeder throughout the day, the longest Tom has ever had to wait for them
to arrive being 5 minutes)
Northern Cardinal
Swamp Sparrow (3)
Red-Winged Blackbird
Common Grackle
Boat-Tailed Grackle
American Goldfinch

Oakland Nature Preserve is located in far western Orange County on the south
shore of Lake Apopka.

Good birding!
