Species: Hooded Merganser
Number of Individuals: 8 birds; 1 drake, 7 hens
Location: Small residential pond in Milano development, Marcello Circle, just off of Livingston Rd., North Naples, FL
Date/Time: Sunday, January 1, 2006, 4:15pm

Milano is yet another new development off of Livingston Road. This one is north of Immokalee Rd. The first small pond in the complex hosted a handful of Snowy Egrets, a few Domestic Muscovy and 8 Hooded Mergansers, sacked out and resting on the water. One of the birds was a strikingly beautiful drake. The other birds appeared to be all females. The small size of the pond and proximity to the road allowed for great views of the birds. Have a nice day.
