I agree with all the advice so far; especially the On Course materials and the advice to have the students reflect on questions that are open ended. I think it would also be great to address the importance of using metacognitive skills in the workplace. Spending serious time analyzing assignments, reflecting on the Bloom's taxonomy level of assignments (e.g. simply information gathering, application of principles, evaluating information, etc.) and devoting enough time to communicating ideas effectively and efficiently might be topics to consider. I know you now have a plethora of ideas and information. But I think you can rest assured that whatever you do that gets THEM involved in reflecting and in talking with each other about ideas they may not have thought of will be a big hit. Good luck! Colleagues: I need help. I am scheduled to do a presentation tomorrow, and the topic has just been changed, I'm looking for ideas, resources, suggestions, etc. I am supposed to present for an hour and a half to a group of 50 students who will be graduating in May. The topic is about time/life management after college. Any suggestions? THANKS IN ADVANCE. It allows us to input information in three formats: one-part (simple concept cards), two-part (suitable for flash cards), and multiple choice. We need to enter the information only once. It is then automatically transformed into as many of the review formats as we choose. Pretty nifty! A similar online service is available through Quia, costing about $45 per year for an individual subscription. See http://www.quia.com/ for information on that program.
