Coordinator Student Athlete Academic Support Services /Retention
Northern Illinois University, a member of the Mid-American Conference,
located 60 miles from the city of Chicago, is an NCAA Division I-A
institution. NIU is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a 12-month
position as Coordinator, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services
/Retention.  Reporting to the Director of Student-Athlete Academic
Support Services, the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, the
Coordinator will be responsible for directing the Enrichment Learning
Program and the tutoring program. This position has the responsibility
for educational assessment, facilitating formal testing, the supervision
of two Instructional Assistants and management of a caseload of

Required: A Master's degree; a minimum of three years experience 
providing support for at-risk students specifically and all academic
levels in general; demonstrated ability to effectively manage all
aspects of a learning program; excellent communication and
organizational skills; ability to work irregular non traditional hours
(evenings and weekends); a strong work ethic; and a sincere passion for
working with students.    

Preferred: Masters' in Special Education, Sport Administration
psychology, counseling, teaching, or related fields and knowledge of
NCAA eligibility rules.
