Position Status: 	This is a Permanent position. -- Full Time

Duties: You will be responsible for the delivery of, but not limited to,
three academic courses in the areas of Student Success Skills, Critical
Thinking, and Reading Effectiveness. Responsible for developing lesson
plans to achieve desired learning outcomes and specific course
objectives, and assessing student performance under a
criterion-referenced system derived from lesson and course objectives.
You will select, based on professional judgment and student capability,
the most appropriate classroom teaching methods including lectures,
demonstrations, collaborative group work, classroom aids, etc. You will
direct the CEP Company Tutor Program.
Administers, implements, plans, evaluates and delivers the CEP Company
Tutor Program. This includes the advertising, coordination,
implementation, and delivery of materials, training, and support to the
cadet company Academic Officers and Sergeants and volunteer cadet
tutors. You will serve as an academic skills enhancement counselor. 

About the Position: West Point is located in the scenic Hudson River
valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at
West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned
historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in
America. The undergraduates, known as cadets, are commissioned as
officers in the US Army upon graduation. You can watch them on parade or
competing as intercollegiate athletes in a wide range of sports events.
As a military installation, West Point is a small, self-contained city
with housing for the military stationed here in support of the Academy,
a Department of Public Works to maintain the roads, grounds and
facilities, two libraries (Academic and Community), a military hospital,
fire department, chapels, restaurants. West Point 3,000 civilian
employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valleys
premiere performing arts center, and recreational facilities such as an
18-hole Golf Course.

*	THIS IS AN EXCEPTED SERVICE APPOINTMENT. Applicant must possess
one
year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level.
Specialized experience is defined as having a knowledge of advanced
instructional techniques and educational principles to effectively
instruct and to prepare and administer materials designed to teach
reading and study skills to students at all levels. Knowledge of and
skill in the operation of computers utilized in the Reading and Study
Skills Program. Knowledge of the theories of learning and reading
processes. Knowledge of methods of instruction in reading comprehension,
rate improvement and study skills.
Skills in managing a tutor program to include planning for and
implementing training, solving administrative/database management
problems, motivating others to take necessary action and negotiating for
resources. Ability to communicate fluently in English (orally and in
writing). 



*	GS-11: Bachelor's degree directly related to this occupation and

year of experience directly related to this occupation equivalent to the
next lower grade level, or 3 years of progressively higher level
graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent
doctoral degree.
