Hi Laura:

I'm glad to hear that others in the VCCS are able to use another
instrument. We have not been at all happy with the math component of the
COMPASS. It really does not go as low (isn't that sad?) as we need for it
to, and it does not adequately diagnose algebra needs.

We are now looking the reading and writing components. The developmental
writing instructor took the test and moaned the entire way through. She
thought it was poorly designed. I took the reading component and found a
question or two that didn't seem to have an answer (and I did share it with
others who agreed). Another reading instructor thinks it places the
reading scores too high, and the writing instructor thinks it places the
writing scores too low.

I'll be interested in what others have to say about Accuplacer.
