NOT a weird question at all, but a key factor in the differences between how learning centers acquire and report statistics.  We desperately need more consistency in the field so we don't even have to ask/answer those questions: we must clearly distinguish between students (the individual human beings), visits (the number of times people come through the door for various reasons), and hours (the amount of time, probably as contact hours).
