Learning Assistance Specialist


 


 

Loyola Marymount University's Learning Resource Center (LRC) has an
opening for a 
Learning Assistance Specialist.  This position will provide group and
individual instruction in the field of business.  This individual will
develop, coordinate and support supplemental instruction and other
collaborative group learning programs and interact and collaborate with
department administrators/faculty throughout LMU in order to ensure
quality management of these programs.

 

Develop new programs which encourage various academic competencies among
LMU students; and assist with database management and/or evaluation of
various academic support programs.   The individual will provide group
and individual instruction in study and learning skills areas.  Recruit,
train, evaluate, and on occasion discharge graduate and undergraduate
students who work as supplemental instruction leaders and tutors in
various programs offered by the LRC and design instructional materials
for these programs.  

 

Other responsibilities include providing information technology support,
updating, revising and expanding the LRC and Disability Support Services
Office websites.

 

We seek candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Business or a related
field.   A Master's degree in Education, Psychology or a related area,
or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which
comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is highly desirable.
The candidate should also have a minimum of three years experience
teaching at the secondary or collegiate level.  Experience in a college
or university writing and/or learning center is preferred.  The
candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
