Look for original set-up purchase costs approaching $20,000 for twenty licenses: Windows 2000 Advanced Server $8,131 Fee for software and installation $3,500 Fee for training staff and faculty $1,000 Yearly licensing fee (for 20 licenses) $4,950 TOTAL FEES $17,581 That is if you are going to purchase your own server. If you use PLATO's server the cost may be even higher in the long term. The yearly licensing fees (read maintenance agreement) runs, as you can see, roughly $250 per license, and there is an on-going trend for higher yearly fees. PLATO is a good product, but in my opinion it has become the 800 pound gorilla that slings its weight around and takes advantage of its users.
