Charlotte,

The brush up course that is held on campus is $75.00 and it includes 12 hours of classroom instruction.

The A+dvancer on-line program included a diagnostic assessment to first determine the students needs - the assessment is $3.00 ~~~~~~ the coursework that is assigned from the assessment is $30.00. This program remains "open" for 90 days.

We use Accuplacer as our placement test. If students complete one of the above "remedial" brush-up courses they can re-take that part of the Accuplacer and try to improve their placement.

Some students take the brush-up courses/ or work on A+dvancer before they take the Accuplacer as a way to prepare. Other students take a brush-up course / work on A+dvancer at the end of the semester if they failed the developmental math course.

The brush -up courses / A+dvancer program helps students strengthen their skills and help them succeed. At NCC we often have to run so many developmental courses and we can't find the time or space to fit so many in. Allowing students to take advantage of a brush-up or A+dvancer program has helped ease some of our (NCC) logistic/staffing concerns as well.
