Director of Programs
Pforzheimer Learning and Teaching Center
 
 
Develops, implements, and oversees all Pforzheimer Learning and Teaching
Center programs related to academic support for Wellesley's diverse
student body.  Provides leadership in the planning and evaluation of
academic support services across the campus.  Assists students in
developing effective study strategies, counsels students on academic
issues, and refers students as necessary to other institutional
resources.  Oversees peer tutor programs, including Academic Peer
Tutors, departmental tutors, public speaking tutors, and reading tutors.
Collaborates with and assists Faculty Director in the development,
implementation, and evaluation of programs involved with teaching and
learning.  In collaboration with the Office of Disability Services,
develops, implements, and assesses support services for students with
learning and attention disabilities.  Oversees the operation of the PLTC
including supervising staff, evaluating programs and systems, preparing
and managing budgets, and improving processes.  Schedule: 28 hours per
week, 11 months per year.  Possibility of changing to full time in the
future.
 
Education, Experience or Special Skills Required:  Graduate degree,
preferably at the doctoral level; experience with a diverse college-age
population, with learning skills program development, with student
assessment, intervention, and referral; demonstrated success in working
with multiple constituencies and teams; demonstrated success in
developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plans, and in
initiating new programs, procedures, and processes; demonstrated ability
to oversee office operations, to develop and monitor budgets, and to
assess and improve work processes.  Experience in supervising
professional staff and student workers, and experience teaching at the
college level in a liberal arts setting desirable.   Must be able to
work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
