Following up a request I made a couple of months ago to the list serve,
here is a draft of the SLOs for Fullerton College's Academic Support
Center, an umbrella organization that houses a Skills Center, Tutoring
Center, and Writing Center.

It's been great participating in the discussions; I'm rotating out of
administration and back into full time teaching this semester. No doubt
I'll continue at least as a "lurker" as you explore and debate the
issues.

Student Learning Outcomes for Academic Support Center

ASC

Regular users of the ASC will improve their ability to succeed
academically on their own and through accessing support services.

Student report, staff report, survey.  Possibly have a "test"
demonstration.

What materials and services are available; how to use materials and
equipment; how to behave; how to get the most out of their time; how to
solve their own problems; how to make use of out-of-ASC resources.
Learn to learn

 

Regular users of the ASC will demonstrate ethical behavior in using ASC
services

Staff observation of ethical scan-in/out procedures, test-taking
behavior, appointment-making and breaking behavior, tutoring behavior,
completion of assignments in lab

No scan and scram; no cheating on tests; no late cancellations of
tutoring appointments; no copying of answers or of another's work.

Mainly, this means that they know how to go about solving their academic
problems on their own.  They know the materials available, how to use
