A few points to consider--

At NIU the discussion on the issue was held at the cabinet level. The books
that were targeted were those that ran more than $100. The list of books
seemed to go on and on. The report did not look at the number of classes
that had multiple books where the cost went over $100 --- perhaps a greater

Several schools in IL have gone to textbook leasing systems. Others are
coming out against the use of bundles.

The interesting issue for this listserv is how to approach the used books.
Given the nature of worktexts, we really do not want the students to be
able to work with used texts. Hence, the cot goes up.

The article from Inside Higher Education is one to be considered. The
politicos are looking at the issue nation wide.
