From the European Sociological Association: [log in to unmask] Ainhoa de Federico Dear Colleague, we are pleased to announce, in conjunction with the next European Conference on Complex Systems (ECCS 2007, Dresden, October 1-5), the following satellite workshop, scheduled for October 4: "Enhancing Social Interaction: Recommender Systems, Reputation, P2P, Trust and Social Networks". The emerging technologies around the concepts of reputation, trust, collaborative filtering and peer-to-peer are changing not only the way people share information and interests in social networks, but also the way they trade and choose products and services. A number of challenges arise, regarding the resilience, reliability and even the social desirability of such systems, as well as their extension to sensitive domains such as health care, scientific publishing and sustainable development. We welcome submissions for contributed talks discussing whether and how the Complex Systems approach might help to face these challenges. Topics related to this satellite workshop (4 October) will be covered also during the main conference (1-3 October) and in other satellite workshops (5 October). For more information, visit the web page: http://www.sg.ethz.ch/events/ECCS_satellite . List of invited speakers, registration form and program will appear soon on the web page. Please notice the approaching deadline for the main conference. You need to register to the main conference in order to participate in the satellite. Deadlines: Submission of papers to ECCS main conference: April 30th Early registration to ECCS: May 15th Submission to this satellite workshop: June 15th A peer-reviewed special section in JASSS (http://jasss.soc.surrey.ac.uk ) is planned, depending on the quality of the submissions. Best regards, The organizers, Stefano Battiston (ETH Zurich), Nigel Gilbert (Univ. Surrey), Stefano Leonardi (La Sapienza, Rome). ________________________________________________________________ Professor Nigel Gilbert, ScD, FREng, AcSS, Professor of Sociology, University of Surrey, Guildford GU2 7XH, UK. +44 (0)1483 689173 _____________________________________________________________________ SOCNET is a service of INSNA, the professional association for social network researchers (http://www.insna.org).
