Job Description:
    



Summary

This position requires research as well as management and direction of 
software development projects in the CASOS lab. Primary responsibility 
will be to take high-level research goals from the project's principal 
investigator and establish intermediate project goals, task breakdowns, 
and schedules; monitor group activity to ensure that tasks are complete 
and goals met; draft presentations and reports. As part of the process, 
this position will execute tasks through a combination of directing and 
personally executing software design, development, testing, evaluation 
of software performance and publication of significant results in 
established conference proceedings and journals. Additional 
responsibilities include, collecting material for and writing monthly or 
annual reports, supporting proposal writing, staff supervision in the 
Director's absence, sponsor client meetings, and general research and 
meeting support.

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, a related engineering or scientific 
discipline, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. ; 
At least 4 or more years of related diverse technical experience, 
including in depth experience in software development, operations 
research, social network analysis, link analysis, and machine learning. 
Prior project management experience leading complex technical projects; 
Ability to apply broad understanding of computer science and statistical 
techniques to practical research and development in a university 
environment; excellent analytical, technical, reasoning and innovative 
problem solving skills; ability to effectively lead in a team 
environment; ability to interact and communicate effectively and 
courteously with members of the campus community and external customers 
particularly Ability to apply broad understanding of computer science

Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail, maintain 
concentration for long periods of time, meet inflexible deadlines, 
remain calm during difficult situations, work under pressure, work with 
frequent interruptions, and supervise others. ; Week-end and evening 
hours may be required. Must be a US citizen;

Preferred Requirements

Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related computational discipline with a 
focus on machine learning or web services, or equivalent combination of 
training and experience ; 5+ years experience in two or more of data 
mining, text mining, databases, software engineering, systems engineer, 
or multi-agent simulation. Experience development in both unix and 
windows; Web-service software development, html, gis software, sas 
analysis, python, grid based computing, large scale systems.
