I recently converted a somewhat large blog (700+ posts) from Blogger to WordPress. The conversion went smoothly.

I chose a WordPress theme that was essentially blank so that I could design the site and create the CSS from scratch. Based on my experience, I would recommend that you choose a finished theme and use it.

I'm keeping a log of my revisions to the site on this page:

I did not set up WordPress on my server. It was set up for me by my hosting provider.

The backend is a MySQL database. The scripting language is PHP.
