The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for the
position of Learning Services Coordinator.  Learning Services is one of
four programs within the University Learning Center, which also houses
Writing Services, Math Services and Supplemental Instruction. 


The Learning Services Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of
Student Achievement Services and is responsible for the operation of
Learning Services.  Learning Services provides peer-to-peer academic
tutoring for all Basic Studies courses and provides study skills
tutoring and workshops. The Coordinator will supervise a staff of 40 -
60 undergraduate and graduate student tutors and will work closely with
other program coordinators to provide and develop effective academic
support services for all students at the university. Duties will include
leading a certified tutor training program, developing effective working
relationships with colleagues in the Division of Student Affairs and
faculty and staff across campus, partnering with other university
programs to provide learning support for students, and conducting
ongoing program assessment. The Learning Services Coordinator will be an
energetic, innovative, student-centered professional who has
demonstrated effectiveness in communication and program planning and


Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in a related area, e.g., Education, Reading, Counseling,
TESOL, or Psychology, or an acceptable equivalent of education and
experience is required. Teaching experience is required. Demonstrated
success in implementing academic support services and/or administrative
experience, as well as knowledge of CRLA certified tutor training
programs, is strongly preferred. Familiarity with the latest research on
learning and knowledge of current trends in instructional technology is
essential. Familiarity with ADA preferred.
