For more information see below and attached Wendy Graham The University of Florida and Progress Energy partner to host The UF Water Institute Symposium "Sustainable Water Resources: Florida Challenges, Global Solutions" February 27 - 28, 2008, Gainesville, Florida - Hilton University of Florida Conference Center CALL FOR ABSTRACTS The UF Water Institute encourages you to submit an abstract on-line for presentation at the UF Water Institute Symposium focused on Florida Challenges and Global Solutions for Sustainable Water Resources www.treeo.ufl.edu/conferences/water. The two day symposium will bring together scientists, engineers, academics, policy makers, water managers, industry representatives, lawyers, students and the public interested in exchanging ideas and considering new ways to address the complex, inter-related challenges to water resources sustainability. Presentations are being sought to share examples of research, education, new technologies and improved policies related to some of the major challenges and issues of ensuring water resources sustainability for Florida and beyond. Presentation topics will include, but are not limited to: Challenges to water resource sustainability * Population growth and land use change impacts to water resource sustainability * Climate variability and climate change factors impacting water resource sustainability * Public health, wildlife health, ecosystem health and water resource sustainability Solutions for pressing issues using science, technology, policy and education * Water availability and allocation * Nutrient enrichment of surface, ground and coastal waters * Sources and impacts of emerging contaminants * Socioeconomic impacts of water resources decisions * Public perceptions, values and attitudes toward water issues Attention Students: Prizes for the two best student posters will be awarded.
