Dear UF Colleagues:

The deadline for submitting abstracts to the UF Water Institute
Symposium is THIS WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 10th. This symposium promises to be
intellectually stimulating and thought-provoking event. We have a
great line-up of plenary speakers who have committed to participate
including:

*         Dr. Peter Gleick
<http://www.pacinst.org/about_us/staff_board/gleick/>   (co-founder and
President of the Pacific Institute) who will kick-off the conference
with a global look at connections between water and human health, the
hydrologic impacts of climate change, and sustainable water use

*         Dr. Robert Hirsch

for Water, USGS) who will be the plenary speaker on the challenges of
population growth and land use change to water resources sustainability
from a national perspective

*         Dr. Steve Zebiak

(Director of International Research Institute for Climate and Society,
Columbia University) who will be the plenary speaker on the challenges
of climate variability and climate change to water resources
sustainability

the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, University of
Miami) who will be the plenary speaker on public health challenges to
water resources sustainability

We will systematically be moving from a global to national to local
perspective during the conference, as well as from presentation formats
to more interactive panel discussions and town hall meetings. We will
wrap up with a panel session, featuring the Executive Directors of each
of the Water Management Districts, that focuses on Florida's Water
Policies and Programs and Implications for a Research and Education
Agenda.

This is a great opportunity to showcase UF's Water Programs. I hope
that you will submit an abstract and attend the symposium. Instructions
for abstract submittal are included below.

Best Regards,

Wendy Graham
