This request is reasonable and is easily covered under FERPA. At our
library, the staff are not allowed to say who is at work or where in the
building they are working because of a similar problem. At our Tutoring
Center, we list subject area and the first name only of the tutor. If I
were aware of this type of situation, I would not list names at all.
Also, I would alert Campus Security to this situation and have them
patrol near the SI session. If the behavior of this woman progresses,
this student should file a restraining order or a protective order.

In no uncertain terms, the SI sessions this student leads should be held
in buildings where there are lots of people, and he/she should keep
his/her cell phone at the ready with the campus police number on speed
dial.

Subject: Re: Indep. Study for Probation Students

Hello Listers,

We got a request from an SI leader that we're struggling with. His
request is printed verbatim below.

"Is there any way that the times/locations of my SI sessions could be
taken off the SI website? The students that I SI for know where/when it
is. There is an irrational woman who is trying to find me and I think
that listing is the only way she could. Let me know."

Have you ever dealt with such a request? If so, how did you handle it.
If not, how WOULD you handle it?

All ideas most welcome!

Thanks in advance,
Saundra
