S. Amelia River, Nassau County: While surveying regional Am. oystercatcher nesting pairs this morning, we noted a, partially-molted, male Surf Scoter along the river bank. Of all months of the year, June seems to produce the most sightings of SUSC here, but seldom this late.

Of the AMOY population, only one pair was found with (3) ca one week old chicks on an oyster rake. A previously discovered Wilson's plover scrape with three eggs on another rake is now lost and the site abandoned.
