Position Vacancy:  SI Coordinator for the Academic Success Center, 

  Clemson University

Clemson University is a public, research university located in the
foothills of South Carolina.  Combined graduate and undergraduate
student population is 17,110.  The Academic Success Center serves all
students at the university and is staffed with a faculty Director, 6
fulltime professional staff (5 with faculty status), 5 administrative
staff, one part-time academic counselor, one part-time data analyst, 5
graduate assistants.  

 

Position Title:  Faculty - Lecturer (Coordinator, Supplemental
Instruction Program)

 

Position Description:

The Coordinator for a large, established and award-winning Supplemental
Instruction (SI) program with an average 60% participation rate will
work collaboratively with the ASC Director in providing leadership and
coordination for the SI and other ASC programs.

 

Position Responsibilities:

1.	Design and coordinate training/supervision/administrative
activities of the SI program
2.	Develop and update SI policies, goals and objectives
3.	Responsible for the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of
undergraduate students for SI leader positions and graduate students for
SI supervisor positions
4.	Design and keep current the SI leader training materials,
learning/study skills handouts, and SI forms
5.	Prepare and lead SI leader training during the two days
immediately preceding classes each semester, and continue training
through teaching ED 111, Introduction to Supplemental Instruction, a one
credit course required of all SI leaders; develop and deliver workshops
each semester, regular leader meetings, and individual sessions with
student employees
6.	Responsible for on-going SI Supervisor training in terms of
weekly training meetings, observations of SI sessions, and feedback to
SI leaders on performance
7.	Coordinate facilities for SI training and SI sessions
8.	Communicate with faculty concerning the implementation and
effectiveness of SI in their courses
9.	Collaborate with the Associate Director for the ASC and the data
analyst to provide records and reports on activities and effectiveness
of the program
10.	Assist with teaching academic skills courses, workshops, summer
orientation program and outreach programs as assigned by the Director of
the ASC
11.	Serve as a campus and community resource person for special
events and projects of the Academic Success Center

 

Qualifications:

*         Training in and supervisory experience with the SI model

*         Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with students, faculty and staff

*         Ability to supervise, train and evaluate personnel

*         Ability to communicate effectively

                                   

Minimum Requirements:

Master of Science degree and teaching and/or administration at the
college level, PhD preferred.  

Experience in coordination of an SI program in a college setting
(research university setting preferred)

Collaboration with colleagues, students, faculty, facilities staff and
administrators is essential.

 

Salary:  commensurate with education and experience; expected minimum is
$42,000
