Jeff, our campus has a FERPA officer, who is our Registrar. I know that
her professional organization (AACRAO) helps keep her apprised of FERPA
issues and interpretations, and she has given workshops to various
groups on our campus. Our General Counsel is another source. So, I
would start with their counterparts at your institution or check out
AACRO's web site; there's tons there on FERPA. Karla

I'm starting to think we could use a campus-wide workshop on FERPA and
when / where that prevents sharing information, particularly where
parents or legal guardians are involved. This is specifically related
to the work we do advising students. Do any of you have experience with
a workshop or instructional tool at your institution? How can I best go
about informing the faculty and staff (and myself)?
