We place a number in each book - the students w/the aid of our dept.
sec. sign out the book for the term- w/their name, phone number &
address. We are not advertising it on campus- jus word of mouth- as we
know we do not have enough books for everyone.

What an awesome idea! I'm really interested in the lending library, and
would like to pursue it for implementation on our campus. Can you tell
me more about the logistics of it?

We just started a lending library for texts- students can donate texts
to us at the end of semester - instead of selling them back to the
bookstore- and we will then lend them to students the next term

Subject: helping students through the economic crisis

Dear all,

In my area (a group that includes academic assistance, academic
advising, disability services, career development, academic internships,

student volunteer center and center for public service, and student
employment) we will be meeting soon for a half-day retreat, with the
primary focus of understanding the impact that the economic crisis is
having on students and developing effective strategies for helping them
cope with the stress and make the best possible decisions for
themselves.

I would very much appreciate hearing what you are doing, if anything,
within your learning assistance programs to address this issue.

Many thanks. I always appreciate the the insights and depth of
experience so generously available in this community.
