Without knowing anything about Twitter,  I have seen, as others  have,the 
benefits of this listserv over the many years. It seems to be a more in  realtime 
- ask a question, get answers and move on but cover multiple topics at  a 
time.  It is also possible that participants know these discussions are  
contained in the listserv and not out on the wide, wide world of interneting.  (At 
least I don;t think they are, but could be wrong).  and then there is  the 
archive resource.
 
Listservs may go the way  of other forms of communication but I hope  not, at 
least for a while yet.
