Debra,

FYI--the card swipe definitely should not cost that much. The prohibitive cost was due to a technical glitch and Accutrac -- just one more reason for us to go with TutorTrac.

Thanks for the info. If we get a card swipe I will watch it closely!

Last year I did some comparison research of TutorTrac and Accutrac. I was also fortunate enough to attend individual session presentations on both software programs at last years' CRLA conference in Cleveland. As far as I can remember, TutorTrac and Accutrac are comparable in price. Both tap into BANNER or your school's student information system. I think Accutrac's initial purchase price is around $3,000 while TutorTrac costs about $2,500 with yearly maintenance fees of $700. The thing that sealed the deal for me is that TutorTrac is web-based, which means very little, if any, reconfiguration of our SIS and we can request specific program changes, which we see within 24 hours.

Another neat feature about Tutor Trac is that other support services can connect with yours. Your tutor center can be the main center with the math lab and/or writing lab using the same software. It does cost extra for additional centers (about $700 each), but you can image the powerful data you'll be able to collect and produce having all those different areas combining forces.

Besides the web-based thing, when talking to our IT department about the possibilities for Accutrac, there was a lot of interest in their portable card-swipe. (TutorTrac has this feature, as well.) The card-swipe can come in handy when taking attendance in SI sessions. Students could sign in by swiping their student ID card. The card-swipe is then transferred back to HQ where the information is downloaded into the main system. We use BANNER at our school and there was some technical glitch with the software and our SIS resulting in the card-swipe costing about $1,500 each!

I am also interested in this - especially if anyone has any material comparing Tutortrac with other software/online tutoring management systems such as Accutrac, Accudemia, or any others. I'd like to know what are the strengths and limitations of each, how they compare as far as price and customer service, etc, so as to determine which would be best for our program.

Thanks,

I am looking into Tutortrac as well. I would like to hear input from colleagues who are currently using the system.

Thanks,
