I also found great success in the Index questionnaire. It is very student-friendly and easy to interpret. I especially like it b/c the result also provide the students with strategies to apply their style in/out of the classro om.

I have attached the powerpoint and handout I use in presentations I have done for classes about learning styles, SQ4R reading strategies, and a little bit of OnCourse.

Enjoy...

I use the Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire maintained by North Carolina State University. You can access it here: http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/learningstyles/ilsweb.html

Once completed, the results page is presented and is easy to decipher. At the bottom right side of the page, a detailed handout explaining the categories can be found by following another link.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Subject: learning styles and teaching styles

Hello friends,

I am doing a workshop for incoming first year students later this
summer. I'd like to have the students complete a quick learning styles
inventory, and then discuss adapting their learning styles to the
various teaching styles of faculty they will encounter: the lecturer;
the pacer; the reader of powerpoint slides and so forth.

Has anyone done something similar to this? Any good resources for me to
explore?

Thanks, Suzanne
