Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the Advisory Board, we would like to inform you of the:

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA
29 June - 2 July 2010

We are very pleased to be holding this year's conference in Los Angeles,
California. Los Angeles is one of the most diverse and dynamic cities in the
United States, attracting immigrants and visitors from around the world to
its wide range of attractions, activities and professional opportunities.
Although Los Angeles is perhaps most well recognized as the center of U.S.
movie and television production, its cultural role exceeds that of its most
famous industry. Its music, literary and visual and performing arts
communities, for instance, reflect the diverse perspectives of Angelinos and
are internationally influential. The Los Angeles area is home to some of the
best galleries and museums in the country and to distinguished centers for
humanities research, such as the Getty Center, the Huntington Library and
the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library. The city is also a center of
higher education, boasting many of the finest colleges and universities in
the United States, i!
ncluding the host of this year's International Conference on New Directions
in the Humanities, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The Humanities Conference provides a space for dialogue and for the
publication of new knowledge that builds on the past traditions of the
humanities whilst setting a renewed agenda for their future.

In addition to an impressive line-up of international plenary speakers, the
Conference will also include numerous paper, workshop and colloquium
presentations by practitioners, teachers and researchers. We would
particularly like to invite you to respond to the Conference
Call-for-Papers. Presenters may choose to submit written papers for
publication in the fully refereed International Journal of the Humanities.
If you are unable to attend the Conference in person, virtual registrations
are also available which allow you to submit a paper for refereeing and
possible publication in this fully refereed academic Journal.

Whether you are a virtual or in-person presenter at this Conference, we also
encourage you to present on the Conference YouTube Channel. Please select
the Online Sessions link on the Conference website for further details.

The deadline for the next round in the call for papers (a title and short
abstract) is 13 August 2009. Future deadlines will be announced on the
Conference website after this date. Proposals are reviewed within two weeks
of submission. Full details of the Conference, including an online proposal
submission form, are to be found at the Conference website -

We look forward to receiving your proposal and hope you will be able to join
us in Los Angeles in summer 2010.

Yours Sincerely,

Tom Nairn
