Academic Impressions <http://www.academicimpressions.com/> December 3,
2009 :: 1:00-2:30 p.m. EST

Explore the first steps to building an in-house
coaching model for your campus.

Coaching students on campus is a fairly new innovation in student
affairs. Filling the gap between academic advising and tutoring,
coaching allows students to have one-on-one conversations with someone
on campus and set goals for their academic future.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Using the framework of appreciative advising, you will take away the
steps necessary to build an academic coaching model for your campus. We
will cover:

*	How appreciative advising and coaching fit together
*	A case study of an in-house coaching model
*	First steps for building your own coaching model

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

If you are interested in improving student achievement with the addition
of an academic coaching model to your campus, you should attend this
session.

While coaching for on-line and adult students will not be the main focus
of this session, the faculty will help identify how the appreciative
advising model can be applied in these contexts. In addition, tailored
suggestions for small campuses or community colleges will be offered as
requested.
