Post-doctoral Fellowship / Research Analyst Position at Northwestern
University School of Education & Social Policy

The Distributed Leadership Study is currently conducting a search for a
post-doctoral fellow or research professional to take a senior role in an
ongoing study of school leadership practice and instructional reform.

The project seeks candidates with demonstrated experience in designing and
undertaking empirical investigations of school reform, the school
organization and teachers' social interactions.  We are especially
interested in candidates with expertise in quantitative approaches
especially using surveys and social network instruments.  Candidates with a
PhD in one of the social sciences (e.g., sociology, psychology, economics,
organizational studies) or education are strongly encouraged to apply.
Candidates with a Master's degree in one of these areas plus requisite work
experience are also strongly encouraged to apply.  The position will provide
ample opportunities for a post-doctoral fellow to pursue a scholarly program
of research.

Additional requirements:  at least 3-5 years experience in applied
statistics with demonstrated proficiency with statistical software such as
SAS, SPSS, or STATA; advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, as well
as an understanding of relational databases; strong interpersonal,
communication, and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and to
multi-task; demonstrated ability to quickly learn novel software packages;
familiarity with professional survey design software (such as SNAP) and/or
software for social network analysis (such as UCINet, Pajek, Statnet, or
StOCNET) a plus.

Responsibilities will include working with the principal investigator in the
design and implementation of research studies that investigate school
leadership and instructional improvement. The post-doc/research analyst will
design and oversee data collection, conduct statistical analyses, and will
write and disseminate findings from the work.  Other responsibilities
include data management, selection of appropriate hardware and software, and
overseeing the process of data transfer for source agencies, and selection
of the appropriate graphic and electronic means of representing the data
contained in scientific reports.  Related duties as required or assigned.
