The UF Center for African Studies anticipates awarding Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for graduate students. (Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and be currently enrolled or accepted to a degree program at the University of Florida through a disciplinary department of their choice.) * Summer 2010 FLAS for the intensive study of any African language. Summer fellowships cover tuition at the host institution and provide a stipend of $2,500. Travel awards (covering the actual cost of travel only, up to $1000) may also be available. Fellowships are offered for any of the African languages taught at UF (Arabic, Akan, Amharic, Swahili, Wolof, Xhosa and Yoruba). Fellowships provide a stipend of $15,000 per academic year and cover the cost of tuition and fees (12 credits per semester).
