This article discusses Kraft Foods'  different waste reduction and waste to
energy initiatives found at several facilities located in the United States
and Canada. The company set a goal to reduce net waste from manufacturing
plants by 15% by 2011, but they have exceed that and reduced their net waste
by 30%. Some of the waste reduction strategies that the company is utilizing
include recycling and anaerobic digestion. Kraft's ambitions of reducing
their waste to zero by using recycling and AD will not only be beneficial to
the environment, but will also benefit the company by reducing waste
disposal and energy costs.
