~~~~ ECCS 2010 Video Competition ~~~~
The Complex Systems Society is pleased to announce the ECCS 2010 Video
Competition. The screening of the videos nominated for awards, as well
as the award presentations, will be held in conjunction with ECCS'10
at the Lisbon University Institute, September 13-17, 2010.
The goal of the competition is to document exciting complex systems
studies advances in research, education, and application. The rules of
participation are simple: Compose a short video about an exciting
project, and narrate it so that it is accessible to a broad online
audience.
The developers of award-winning videos will be presented with
magnificent trophies in the closing ceremony of the ECCS'10
conference, scheduled for September 17th, 2010.
We strongly encourage student participation.
Videos will be presented and commented by their authors at the ECCS'10
conference, during the posters and demos period. Videos will also be
displayed at the ASSYST Digital Library.
Go ahead and make a cool video about your project, and get a ton of
attention!
~~~~ Important Dates ~~~~

Submission Deadline: August 25, 2010
Notifications: August 27, 2010
Presentation: September 13-17, 2010
Award Ceremony: September 17, 2010

~~~~ Video Formats ~~~~
Either 1 minute (max) short video or a 5 minute (max) long video, with
English narration (or English subtitles). Use some video format widely
accepted in Internet.
Consider combining screen shots, interviews, and video of a system in
action. Make the video self-contained, so that newcomers to Complex
Systems studies can understand and learn from it.
~~~~ Video Contents ~~~~

We encourage a good sense of humor, but will only accept submissions
with serious content. For example, we welcome submissions of videos
that:

* Highlight your own (contemporary or previous) research
* Focus on the activities (research and/or application) of your (or
another) group
* Introduce viewers to an exciting new topic
* Document some long-term activity of a senior researcher
* Include interviews with key researchers/practitioners
* Can be used in the classroom
* Would otherwise interest prospective students to some field in
Complex Systems studies
* Includes a narration

However, please note that this list is incomplete and not mandatory.
Novel ideas for videos are encouraged. No matter what your choice,
creativity is encouraged! Your video is an opportunity to highlight
your area of research to a wide community.

Videos concerning research already presented at ECCS'10 papers,
posters or demos, are welcome.
