Thank you Susan. I was debating about whether to ask the same question.

I love technology, but you should select the technology based on the learning objectives.

Subject: Re: Using the iPad in Developmental Classes

What are the objectives of the course?

This should come first -- not "how can we use an IPad?"

What do you need to deliver, instruction-wise?

What aspects (besides novelty) would make the IPad better at delivering reading and writing instruction?

Greetings Colleagues,
I come to you again for your expertize. Our provost of Academic Affairs is
very excited about the possibilities of using the iPad in the classroom in
some way. He presented an opportunity for our developmental reading and
writing programs to propose a scenario for using iPads in the classroom. My
questions is have any of you used the iPad in this way? If not, do you have
any suggestions about how we might utilize them? The hope is, I think, to
see if the iPad can be an effective tool for delivering reading and writing
instruction and compare the use, student reaction, and possible improved
outcomes to a class using more traditional media.
My colleague and I will appreciate any thoughts on this.
Regards,
