Multilevel Populations and Social Networks. How do we account for them in the analysis of social statistics?

An ESRC funded workshop at the University of Manchester April 19th 20th 2011.

This workshop will include a series of presentations on the role of individuals, households, geographical groups and social networks in social statistics. Talks will be given by researchers from both the UK and Australia, demonstrating new methods they have developed in this area. Some guidance on how to implement these methods with existing software, such as MLwiN and R will also be given. There will also be opportunity for all participants in the workshop to discuss the future development and application of this methodological framework.

Presentations include:

1.    Using social network information in survey estimation (David Steel, University of Wollongong)

2.    Dealing with household dependencies in the analysis of social survey data (Thomas Suesse, University of Wollongong)

3.    Estimating disclosure risks for socially networked individuals in multilevel populations (Mark Elliot, University of Manchester)

4.    Methods for accounting for social network dependencies in multilevel populations: models and results (Mark Tranmer, University of Manchester)

The workshop runs from Midday on 19th April until 1pm on 20th April.

Accommodation and meals will be provided for all participants; there will be a drinks reception and dinner on the Tuesday night (April 19th).
