Dear Giovonnia:

You could use the scales on The College Study Skills Inventory (CSSI) for your test-taking workshop. The CSSI is a diagnostic prescriptive inventory used to assess a student's application of the study skills required to excel in college-level courses.

The questions on the Retention scale on page 5 reveals if a student applies what is required to retain and recall the information needed to answer questions on a test.

The questions on the Test Preparation, Test Taking, and Test Debriefing scales on pages 6 and 7 reveal if a student has applied what must be done before, during and after taking a college-level test.

The CSSI is used to diagnosing the root cause of a student’s learning problem. This prevents an instructor or tutor from treating the symptoms of a learning problem instead of finding and removing the root cause. This is necessary because many times tutoring is treating a symptom of a learning problem. How to determine the root cause of a students learning problem is given in the CSSI manual.

Engineerica Systems, Inc. the publisher of the CSSI permits it to be reproduced and distributed for non-commercial, educational purposes.

The CSSI is available at http://www.thelearningwizard.com/CSSI.htm
