I just got a suspected diagnosis (DDIS) of red date scale back from Lyle on Phoenix reclinata at the Spring Hill Campus of Pasco/Hernando Community College. I'll be sending a fresh sample to him Monday for confirmation. If it is, it's the furthest north
he's seen it.
The damage on your palm photos look very similar to this one.
He gave me the same treatment info and I've no experience with control - so basically I'm of little of little help except to say that this scale may have moved north.

What can anyone tell me about controlling the red date scale on pygmy date palms? Has anyone heard of the palms being killed by the scale? It seems to be a problem as of late
here in Lee County and it may be spreading fast. I have attached some pixs.
