The light stable isotopic mass spec lab in Geological Sciences has recently acquired a new instrument that allows simultaneous determination of oxygen and hydrogen isotopic composition in liquid water. This Cavity
Ring-Down spectrometer might be of interest to people in the Water Institute.
The package that we acquired is a Picarro Isotopic Water Analyzer (L2130-i) with a Picarro High-Precision Vaporizer (A0211) and a CTC autosampler. Sample size is small with a minimum of about 100 microliters required. The system is fully automated requiring
only loading samples into autosampler vials. Typical precision is better than 0.07 permil for d18O and better than 0.2 permil for dD.
Here is the link to the manufacturer's analyzer page:
Priority access to the instrument will be given to investigators at UF. Per sample cost cost for both oxygen and hydrogen isotopes will be $15. Contact Jason Curtis for more information and application support -
