Hi Meg,

A good resource (I think) is Sally Lipsky's book, A Training Guide for College Tutors and Peer Educators. She leads with defining the role of a peer educators and does a good job of getting students to reflect on the boundaries of that role. Also, I would spend some time talking to students about the nature of helping relationships; it's basic counseling theory and practice, but it is necessary stuff (in my opinion) when working with peer educators.

Good Luck!

Subject: Peer Mentoring - Resources

Good morning,

We are entering our second year with our peer mentoring group (called Protégé) that works to support at-risk students manage their academic commitments as they transition to college. I was wondering if anyone had any good resources (books, articles, etc.) to assist with the on-going training of the mentors? Does anyone have any feedback from a similar program on their campus?

Thank you,
Meg Kiley
