Assistant Director, Office of Academic Skills 
10-month appointment 

Responsibilities: 
The Assistant Director, Office of Academic Skills, provides academic support 
services, including tutorials and study skills assistance, to students and is 
responsible for the Peer Tutoring and Course Mentoring programs. The 
Assistant Director conducts one-to-one study skills sessions, workshops, and 
seminars for student groups who request them, such as Athletics, 
fraternities/sororities, and Resident Assistants. The Assistant Director 
collaborates with the Director, Office of Academic Skills, to develop, organize, 
and conduct the academic study skills course. The Assistant Director also 
works closely with other Academic Resource Offices including the Math and 
Writing Centers to coordinate tutorial services, peer tutor training, and the 
use of online scheduling software. The Assistant Director supervises the peer 
tutors and course mentors, manages student payroll, and maintains relevant 
records on student services and students' progress. 

Qualifications: 
1. Education: Master's degree (M.A.) in Psychology, Counseling, Student 
Development or related field. 
2. Two to three years' previous experience in academic or student support 
services. 
3. Experience with peer tutoring and supplemental instruction initiatives. 
4. Proficiency with educational technology, MS Office, and student database 
software programs.
