GENERAL DUTIES
Administers the activities of a learning resource or support center.
-       Supports the design and delivery of academic resources such as
tutoring, remedial and other student programs and services, delivered in a
variety of modes, including on-line
-       Produces and administers training programs, lectures, workshops,
seminars and special events
-       Collaborates with various College offices to improve student and
faculty services; implements new services and assures existing services are
effectively provided.
-       Serves as resource expert for students and faculty regarding center
policies and procedures, and if needed, technology issues related to their
learning experience
-       May assist and/or supervise office operations and/or department
budget
-       Performs related duties as assigned.
 
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
                  
SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) is one of the two
major higher education programs of the City University of New York for
students who need academic and financial support to successfully compete in
college.
 
The SEEK Mission is to increase the level of education, social mobility, and
vocational capability in NYC and NYS by providing access to higher education
to students who are educationally and economically disadvantaged.
 
The support services in counseling, tutoring, instruction, and financial aid
allow students to take advantage of and enjoy the rich possibilities that
college offers. The objective of the SEEK Program is to enable its students
to move as quickly as possible to degree completion.
 
The Tutoring Coordinator oversees the implementation of tutorial programs
that guide and assist SEEK students with their basic skills and academic
subjects. This position leads and coordinates the activities of the SEEK
Learning and Study Center (SLSC). It will be directly supervised by the SEEK
Department Chair/Director.
 
Responsibilities:
-       Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate tutors and supplemental
instructors.
-       Supervise the daily operations of the SEEK Learning and Study
Center, including the Supplemental Instruction program, multiple resource
rooms, and an open computer lab.
-       Prepare and process payroll and timesheets, and maintain reliable
spending reports.
-       Produce, administer, and assess training programs, lectures,
workshops, seminars, and special events.
-       Manage student appointments for individual and group study sessions
using AccuTrack.
-       Work closely with SEEK Department faculty and other College
departments in planning and implementing lab activities.
-       Promote lab services to students, faculty, and staff.
-       Develop and manage SLSC Web site and online tutorials. May also
assess the effectiveness of SLSC activities and make changes as necessary.
-       Attend the SEEK Council of Tutor Coordinators' meeting held at CUNY
Central each month.
-       Maintain proper documentation of services provided and students'
progress reports.
-       Collaborate with various College offices to improve students and
faculty services; implements new services and assures existing services are
effectively provided.
-       Serve as a resource expert for students and faculty regarding center
policies and procedures, and if needed, technology issues related to their
learning experience.
-       May assist and/or supervise office operations and/or budget.
                  
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
                  
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS                  
Experience in administrative or program planning. The desired candidate will
have excellent organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple
processes simultaneously; exceptional computer skills; and excellent
interpersonal skills, with an interest and ability in responding to the
needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
                  
COMPENSATION
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
